The Biggest Upcoming Movies of 2026 Everyone Is Talking About Right Now
It doesn’t feel like a normal movie year.
There’s a different kind of excitement building—one that hasn’t been this strong in a while. People aren’t just casually watching trailers anymore. They’re waiting, discussing, predicting.
And when you look at the lineup of upcoming movies in 2026, it’s easy to see why.
This year is packed with major sequels, massive franchises, emotional returns, and ambitious new projects. From animated favorites to superhero blockbusters and cinematic epics, the variety is what makes it stand out.
Here are the movies that are shaping the conversation right now.
The Odyssey – A Cinematic Experience in the Making
One of the most talked-about films is The Odyssey.
Bringing an ancient Greek story into modern cinema isn’t a small move. It’s a risk—but also a huge opportunity.
With today’s technology, audiences expect something visually immersive, but what’s really drawing attention is the depth of the story. A journey filled with struggle, identity, and the idea of returning home is something people connect with, even now.
This isn’t just another release. It feels like a film that aims to leave an impression.
The Super Mario Sequel – Bigger, Louder, More Fun
After the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the sequel was inevitable.
What makes this one exciting is the expectation that it will expand everything—more characters, bigger adventures, and a deeper dive into the Nintendo universe.
It’s one of the most anticipated family movies of 2026, and it appeals to both longtime fans and new audiences.
Toy Story 6 – Nostalgia That Still Works
There’s always hesitation when another Toy Story film is announced.
But at the same time, there’s always curiosity.
Toy Story 6 continues a story that many people grew up with. That emotional connection is what keeps the franchise alive.
Whether it introduces new characters or revisits old ones, it’s guaranteed to be one of the most discussed animated movie releases of the year.
The New Spider-Man Movie – Continuing the Legacy
Few characters stay relevant across generations like Spider-Man.
The upcoming Spider-Man movie is expected to continue blending action with emotional storytelling—something recent films have done very well.
Fans are especially invested in what comes next, making this one of the most anticipated superhero movies of 2026.
Avengers: Doomsday – The Big Event Movie
If there’s one film expected to dominate globally, it’s Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel is building this as a major crossover event, bringing together characters and storylines in a way that feels large in scale.
These types of films go beyond entertainment—they become shared experiences. And that’s exactly why this one is getting so much attention.
Dune: Part Three – Expanding a Massive World
After the success of the previous films, Dune: Part Three is expected to take things even further.
The story continues to explore complex themes while delivering stunning visuals and large-scale storytelling.
It’s one of the most anticipated sci-fi movies of 2026, especially for viewers who enjoy immersive worlds.
Supergirl – A New Direction for DC
DC is shifting its approach, and Supergirl is a big part of that change.
Instead of a traditional storyline, this version is expected to explore a more layered and emotional side of the character.
That difference is exactly what’s making people curious.
The Mandalorian and Grogu – Star Wars Returns to Cinema
After dominating streaming, Star Wars is heading back to theaters with The Mandalorian and Grogu.
This film brings familiar characters into a larger cinematic format, which is something fans have been waiting for.
It combines nostalgia with a new kind of storytelling experience.
Moana (Live-Action) – A Familiar Story Reimagined
Disney continues its trend of live-action adaptations with Moana.
The story remains the same, but the visuals and presentation are completely reworked.
It’s one of the most anticipated family-friendly movies, especially for audiences who loved the original.
Zootopia 2 – Expanding a Beloved World
Zootopia 2 builds on the success of the original film, which was praised for both its story and its message.
The sequel is expected to go deeper into the world while keeping the same energy that made the first one stand out.
Masters of the Universe – A Risky Comeback
Bringing Masters of the Universe back into the spotlight is a bold move.
There’s curiosity around whether it will succeed or struggle, which makes it one of the more unpredictable releases.
Sometimes, these are the films that surprise everyone.
Street Fighter – Another Big Game Adaptation
Following the success of video game movies, Street Fighter is stepping into the spotlight.
There’s growing interest in how these adaptations are handled, especially after recent successes in the genre.
Scream 7 – Horror That Keeps Returning
The Scream franchise continues with its seventh installment.
These films maintain attention by mixing nostalgia with modern storytelling, making them relevant even after so many years.
Greenland 2: Migration – Survival at a Larger Scale
Greenland 2: Migration continues a story built around survival and global crisis.
It’s expected to deliver tension, emotional moments, and large-scale scenes that keep audiences engaged.
Other Titles Gaining Attention
There are also a few additional movies adding to the 2026 lineup:
- The Cat in the Hat – a new take on a classic character
- Scary Movie 6 – bringing back parody comedy
- Expanding Minions-related projects
These may not dominate headlines, but they add variety to the year.
The 2026 movie lineup shows that cinema is still evolving—but not by moving away from the past.
Instead, it’s building on it.
Old stories are being retold. Familiar characters are returning. New chapters are being added to worlds people already care about.
And that combination is what creates excitement again.
Because at the end of the day, movies aren’t just about what’s new.
They’re about what stays with you—and what brings you back.
